Join us: https://bit.ly/3Rz1uCH Hill districts of Manipur turned into protest grounds following the Home Ministry's order to remove Border Security Force personnel stationed in the hill areas ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Villagers of Thawai Kuki in Kamjong district took to the streets early this morning at around 6:00 a.m. to stage a demonstration against the central government’s decision. The protestors, mostly women blocked several roads in the village prohibiting BSF vehicles from moving out of their area. The protestors also demanded the deployment of additional forces in their village before the removal of the present forces. "Three people had died on August 18, 2023. After that, we appealed to the government to deploy armed forces here. That was when the armed forces were deployed and that is why we feel safe. If they are taken out of here will bring trouble for us because the conflict between Meteis and Kukis is still underway. Until additional forces are deployed, we will not allow the armed forces to leave," Hohoi Haokip, one of the protestors said. Similar scenes were also seen at Molnoi area of Pallel in Tengnoupal district where protestors blocked several roads on March 9 evening obstructing the BSF personnel from moving out. They were seen holding placards and raising slogans ‘Jaane Nahi Denge’ meaning ‘we will not let you go’.
