Prep Time: 5 minutes Active Standing Time: 2 minutes Cook Time: 30 minutes (includes pressure built-in & release) Total Time: 35 minutes Servings: 4 to 6 Cost: $4 (approximate) Instant pot Model: 8 qt Duo Evo Plus Nutrition: (APPROXIMATELY) Serving Size: 1/2 Cup Calories: 200kcal |Carbohydrates: 35g |Protein: 5g | Fat: 4g Ingredients: For Sambar: Onions- 1/2 Cup Tomato- 3/4 Cup Veggies of your choice- 1 Cup Turmeric Powder- 1/2 Tsp Sambar Powder- 3 Tbsp Hing or Asafotida- 1/4 Tsp Tamarind- a small key lime or (Tamarind Paste- 1 Tbsp) Water- 1.5 Cup + 0.5 Cup (for soking tamarind) Toor Dal- 1/2 Cup Salt- 1 Tsp or to taste Coriander Leaves Tampering: Ghee/Oil- 2 Tbsp Dry Chilly- 1-2 Mustard- 1/2 Tsp Curry Leaf- Few For Pongal: Moong Dal- 1/2 Cup Rice- 1/2 Cup Water- 4 Cups Salt- to taste Tempering: Ghee- 4-5 Tbsp Pepper- 1 1/4 Tsp Jeera- 1 Tsp Ginger- 1.5 Tsp Cashews- 1/4 Cup Hing or Asafotida- 1/4 Tsp Curry Leaf- Few Instructions: *For Sambar: To the pot add onion, tomatoes, veggies, turmeric, sambar powder, rinsed toor dal, tamarind water, water, hing, and salt. Give i t a mix. *For Pongal: To the separate pot add rinsed moong dal and rice. Add salt as per your taste and water. * Keep the trivet inside the inner liner and place the dal and rice pot. * Close the lid and seal the vent. * Cook for 8 minutes on high pressure. * Do NPR for 10 minutes and release the remaining pressure. * Do tempering and add it.
