Neelam Valley For the information of
tourists intending to visit Azad Kashmir, it is requested to come from any city of Pakistan including Faisalabad to Neelam Valley via Islamabad via express highway via Murree. At the end of the express highway, continue to Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, via Murree Road on the left. A business center has been opened on the bank of river Jhelum to cheat tourists of Neelum Valley, which has nothing to do with Azad Kashmir or Neelum Valley, remember this place is definitely not Azad Kashmir or Neelum Valley. (So avoid getting cheated) Near this place after crossing the Kohala bridge, the state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir begins. Muzaffarabad city is located about an hour away from Kohala. Tourists should decide according to their time whether they want to stay overnight in Muzaffarabad or go to Neelum Valley. Generally, traveling to Neelum Valley at night is dangerous for tourists. If you have reached Muzaffarabad in the evening, stay overnight in Muzaffarabad. Muzaffarabad city has hotels and guesthouses of all standards starting from Rs 1500/2000 per room to PC Hotel. If you have reached Muzaffarabad during the day and you intend to proceed further, then take the main highway of Muzaffarabad city or take Nalochhi Gojra Bypass Road towards Chehla Bandi. Your journey to Neelum Valley starts from Chehla Bandi. Visiting various tourist points on the way (Dhani Waterfall, Neelum Jhelum Dam, Lion of Control Chalhana) you will reach Kundal Shahi after about 3 hours. After visiting Kundal Shahi Waterfall, stay overnight at Kundal Shahi, Kattan or Athmakam. There are many guesthouses at these places for tourist accommodation. If you have time or no place to stay at these places, you can also stay at Kern or Upper Neelam, 35 minutes away from Autmakam. Upper Neelum village has a special place in Neelum Valley tourism due to its beauty and being right in front of the Line of Control.
After overnight stay, next morning after breakfast etc. if your intention is Ratigli Lake then a link road leads to Ratigli Lake from Dwarian village about 30 minutes from Cairn. If you don't have your own 4WD vehicle, rent a jeep from Dwarian which costs around 7 to 8 thousand rupees. If you intend to go trekking, then you must carry energy foods like energy biscuits, instant padar juices, milk etc. with you. Apart from this, souvenirs of Azad Kashmir are also very useful. Even if you have your own 4WD vehicle, try to hire a local driver from Dwariya who will be available at a suitable time. Inexperienced persons should avoid self driving on Ratigli road. The distance from Dwarian to Ratigli base camp as far as vehicles can go is about 18 km and this 18 km distance is covered in about 2.5 to 3 hours.
