He worked in Orthopaedic Hospital, Eastern Railways, Howrah, West Bengal, India for almost 2 decades in the capacity of specialist Orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in Joint Replacement surgery of hip and knee. There are numerous exercises for strengthening back muscles. Your treating orthopaedic surgeons will decide which exercise will be suitable for you. Back muscle exercises are 2 sets of exercises. First set of exercises are for beginners, old persons or persons with little back pain persisting. Do not stop exercise even if it slightly hurts you.For back pain there is no role for absolute bed rest and avoidance of exercise. Continue activities of daily living and phase one exercise as shown in video.Phase two exercises are for younger individual, students, IT professional. If any particular exercise hurts you much- stop only that particular exercise. Consult your orthopaedic surgeon if back pain persist for more than few days in young individual. But for sudden onset back pain especially older individual consult your orthopaedic surgeon immediately.
