Girls present with urinary incontinence and are treated for some other problem. Diagnosis of female epispadias is by clinical examination. The examination is done by gently separating the labia where we can see a bifid clitoris and patulous wide open urethra. On coughing there will be urine leak also. Treatment of female epispadias is by surgery. Surgery is best done by perineal approach where urethra is dissected till bladder neck and then narrowed, bladder neck is plicated and finally suspended from the pubic symphysis. Also, clitoroplasty and monsplasty is done for cosmetic correction. |
