Homemade buttermilk catfish biscuits can be enjoyed as a breakfast meal, lunch meal or a dinner meal it's truly a transitional meal plan. Homemade buttermilk biscuits are excellent all on their own but imagine letting your mind go wild with extras like fried catfish, cheese eggs, coleslaw, and etc. Grandma Jo's buttermilk biscuits just makes my heart sing and I enjoyed these biscuits growing up the bigger the better was her moto lol!!! Homemade buttermilk biscuits were enjoyed growing up in so many ways. I would enjoy larger buttermilk biscuits with a nice bowl of syrup and a glass of cold milk as a kid. Self-rising flour has all that you need to make homemade buttermilk biscuits the ingredients are already mixed well for you as a shortcut just add your buttermilk and your butter and go to town with the finished product hot and steamy right out of the oven. The buttermilk adds a nice internal moistness in the biscuits in every bite this is what you call easy flavorful lip smacking biscuits. Ingredients - self rising flour (5) cups, buttermilk (3) cups, 1 - 2 frozen stick of unsalted butter, catfish, fish batter mix Preperation steps Biscuits - in large mixing bowl add 5 cups of self-rising flour, next add 3 cups of buttermilk total (add 1/2 at a time and mix well) next add remaining buttermilk ( mix well). Pour biscuit dough onto floured surface (knead dough) for 3-5 mins until it's a smooth consistency. Add more flour to hands, dough and counter surface to prevent dough from getting sticky from being worked with hands. Dough roller - roll biscuits out 1/2 - 1 inch thickness in the shape of a pizza, don't press too hard allow biscuit dough to be a 1/2 - 1 inch in thickness. Utilize a biscuit cutter or a drinking glass to form perfect biscuit shapes. (optional ) you can melt half stick of butter in microwave to brush over biscuits prior to placing in oven. Bake instructions - spread biscuits out onto a non-stick baking sheet, bake on 425 for 15-20 mins or until biscuits are a light golden brown. CATFISH - wash and rinse fish and season in batter according to packing instructions. |
