| Video Discription | "Song Of The Swan" is a play based on the life and subsequent tragic death of Hans Christian Ostro. Hans was a twenty seven year old Theatre practitioner from Norway who went to India to learn the ancient dance Theatre form "Kathakali". He wanted to eventually go back to Oslo and write and direct a play incorporating this newly learnt art form. He went to Kashmir for a casual trek and was kidnapped by militants unwittingly becoming a pawn in the larger dangerous politics of that region. Hans was subsequently beheaded by the militants. An artist till his last breath, Hans wrote poetry and numerous letters which were discovered in form of random scraps of paper hidden on his person. Song Of The Swan follows Hans' incredible journey with semi fictional accounts of the characters who met him and through the reminiscence of a mother who struggles to make sense of this mindless violence towards her son. |
