If the wound looks deep and severe, call for emergency help and avoid moving the injured person if possible. Only use a tourniquet if you’ve been properly trained, and use only commercially-available tourniquets that can be found in first aid kits. Controlling bleeding can help save a life by keeping the injured person stable until emergency help arrives.
