| Video Discription | Kimi Werner takes us to Na Mea Kupono, a community-loved lo'i kalo, or wetland taro farm. It's a place where children gather to learn about Hawaiian culture and how to care for the natural resources that care for them. Buddy and other neighborhood kids have the privilege of learning from Kumu Ku'uipo who with her partner Steven, cares for this land. On this episode, Kimi brings special guests, Ellee and Aki Noguchi to visit the lo'i and gather ingredients for a special meal. They learn about invasive (or rather, displaced) species of animals that threaten native ecosystems. They harvest a few to bring back to Kimi's kitchen and prepare a special meal for a couple of hardworking culinary community members who also happen to be their parents! The mission of Na Mea Kupono is to perpetuate the concepts of aloha aina (love for the land) and Hawaiian culture values with people of the community and the world, through environmental awareness and interaction, and to improve the quality of life by way of diverse cultural activities.
