Decarboxylation is the process of converting THC-a and CBD-a into THC and CBD. Check if you need to break the plant material into smaller parts. It is not necessary to break the buds, but if you want to fit more into the beaker, you can go ahead and break them. Step 1: Breaking the buds (optional) Pro: more plant material can be put in the beaker this way Con: the finer the plant material, the more dust would escape the filter in the last step. Advice: Decarb whole buds or break the buds by hand. Don’t use a grinder if you want to avoid dust in the final product (infused oil) Note: POT beaker can hold a maximum of about 20 grams of plant material. The typical cooking time for decarb function is about 2- 3 hours. (POT calculates cooking time automatically according to the volume of plant material, the moisture level, and the room temperature to deliver full activation.) You can decarb fresh herb in POT without drying it first: Pot dries the herb first. During the drying process, the temperature is below 100 C, so POT knows that the decarb has not started yet. After all the moisture escape from the plant material, the temperature starts to rise and reach the target decarb temperature. This is how POT knows that the decarb starts. POT monitors and adjusts the temperature in real-time, making sure that the target temperature is reached for a target period of time with a fluctuation of less than 1 degrees Celsius. As a result, for fresh herb or high-moisture herbs, the total decarb circle would take longer time. Step 2: Decarb. This step is pretty straightforward: 1. Put your herb into the beaker, make sure it doesn’t exceed the MAX line. 2. Cover the beaker with the flat lid 3. Put the beaker in the machine 4. Choose the proper decarb function (for CBD and Non-CBD strains) If your buds have higher THC than CBD, use the Non-CBD setting. If your buds have higher CBD than THC or 1:1 CBD/THC, use the CBD setting. How do you know POT is busy cooking: 1. The fan: kicks in to keep the machine cool to touch after about 5 minutes. 2. The green ring light: indicates that POT is busy cooking. As long as the green light is on, you know the machine is cooking. Wait till POT is finished. How do I know if POT is done: 1. The green light disappears, a while dot light appears. 2. Gentle beeps 3. The fan (sound) stops Important: The beaker can be very hot right after decarboxylation, make sure you only touch the silicone sleeve when you take the beaker out of the machine. When the plant material is wet, you might see condensation on the lid, there is nothing to worry about as long as the plant material does not exceed the MAX line on the beaker, the activation is guaranteed.
