Welcome everyone!
Today’s video we are going to discuss my favorite trio of credit cards. These are the three credit cards currently in my wallet that I use for the majority of my purchases. Using these three cards in sync with one another, allows you to maximize the total rewards and total cash back that you can achieve. To do this, you make your purchases on the card that receives the most benefit. After that, you take the points and combine them in the Chase Ultimate Rewards Portal and redeem them for what works best for your personal situation currently. Each of these cards offers a strong signup bonus, and good perks for daily card use as well. As with all credit cards, you have to remember the golden rule, which is to always pay off your balance in full every month, otherwise you will end up paying interest and losing out on the benefit of the credit card rewards.
Chase Freedom Flex
200 dollars for free after spending 500 bucks in the first 3 months. You can buy a PS5 or a new Xbox and save 200 bucks essentially. This is a no-annual fee beginner friendly card that has revolving bonus categories every quarter. In each of quarterly bonus categories, you earn a total of 5% rewards points for all purchases up to $1,500 during that quarter. Currently, the card offers a 0% intro APR, which you can take advantage of if you have a large purchase coming up. However, you have to ensure you pay off the entire balance before the intro period ends. You also have to make minimum payments per month even with the 0% APR. You earn 1% on all non bonus category purchases. Currently the quarterly bonus category is Home Improvement Stores and Gas Stations. So if you spent 100 dollars this month on gas, you would have received 5 bucks in rewards points. For the 3rd quarter of 2021, the bonus category is Amazon! The best strategy is to send any points you earn over to your Sapphire Preferred card if you have it.
Chase Sapphire Preferred
This is my current favorite card. It is a little more challenging to attain in terms of credit, though most people can attain this pretty easily. This card offers a whopping 100,000 points right now (worth 1,250 dollars when redeemed towards travel in the Chase Portal, or 1,000 dollars flat). The card does have an annual fee of 95 dollars, but this is easily washed away by all of the benefits the card currently offers. One really cool thing you can do currently is redeem your points for 25% more on the chase portal for certain categories of your statement credits. Right now, if you spent money at a grocery store, your points are worth 25% more in a statement credit to pay that off. You could have earned 100 bucks of rewards from your freedom flex card. Send those points over to your Sapphire preferred card where you have another 100 bucks of rewards. You now have 200 dollars, but if you redeem for statement credits, you can redeem them to pay off 250 dollars!
Chase Freedom Unlimited
This is the card you use for all other purchases due to the fact that you receive 1.5 points per dollar. This is also a relatively easy card to get, and when paired with the Freedom flex, can still be a great duo if you haven’t built your credit enough to attain the Sapphire Preferred. Any points you have earned on this card, you would send over to the SP as well for the statement credits or travel redemptions.
One thing to keep in mind, Chase has a 5/24 rule, which means you can’t be approved for more than 5 credit cards in 24 months…. So you may not be able to apply for all three at once if you already have new cards.
