In an interview with Russian TV's Pavel Zarubin, Putin said he expected a more confrontational approach from Carlson, so he could respond in kind. "To be honest, I thought that he would behave aggressively and ask so-called sharp questions," Putin said in comments broadcast on Wednesday. "I was not just prepared for this, I wanted it, because it would give me the opportunity to respond in the same way." Putin, in his first interview with an American journalist since Russia's troop deployment in Ukraine two years ago, delivered a half-hour history lecture to Carlson.
