Using the rigid TEO platform, full-thickness transanal resection of the polyp was performed following suture closure of the rectal defect. TES was first described in the early 1980’s by Professor Buess as Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) based on the original rigid transanal platform. Now several platforms are commercially available including TEO and TAMIS. TES has been increasingly adopted worldwide to facilitate minimally invasive resection of benign rectal lesions as well as carefully selected rectal cancer. When feasible, it avoids the morbidity associated with conventional proctectomy. |
