| Video Discription | Ivan Toney, the striker for Brentford, has been handed an eight-month ban from football by the English Football Association for breaking the rules on betting a total of 232 times. The announcement was made on Wednesday. Toney, who is 27 years old, has scored a total of 21 goals across all competitions and is third in scoring in the Premier League behind Erling Haaland and Harry Kane. The Football Association has released a statement announcing that Ivan Toney has been suspended from all football and football-related activities for eight months immediately. The suspension will last up to and including 16 January 2024. In addition, Toney has been fined £50,000 and cautioned for his future behavior due to violating The FA's Betting Rules. Toney admitted to breaking the rules a total of 232 times between February 2017 and January 2021. According to the FA's Rule E8, players are forbidden from betting on football matches in any capacity, either directly or through a third party, or from sharing confidential information that can be used for betting purposes.
