| Video Discription | A native of Macon, Georgia, Billy Young became a protege of Otis Redding who signed him to his developmental label, Jotis, in 1965. In 1966, Jotis, was discontinued but Young continued to be mentored by Redding who sent him down to the Fame Studios to record several outstanding sides including this one titled, Have Pity On Me, written by Tommy Roe. The single was leased to Chess Records in Chicago but Chess decided not to retain Young on their roster of artists. As a result, Young returned to recording at Fame and several of his recordings were leased to Mercury Records as a result. |
