| Video Discription | The 5th edition of the Meghalaya Games which was extolled by Officials concerned that it will be one of the most resplendent events the state has ever seen has had its short-comings from Day-1 with inadequate food being provided to lack of transportation for athletes and those partaking in the event. Speaking with The Shillong Times, Syrpailin Wanniang, Team Manager of True North, East Khasi Hills informed that on Day 1, lunch was served in a packet, at around 7 – 7:30 PM containing a Rs5/- chana packet, Rs5/- chips, two very small samosas, cashew nuts and one frooti. Adding that, her athletes were utterly hungry; they had to go in-search of food outside the stadium but could barely procure enough for everyone since all the shops were almost closed or out of essentials. They could only manage to acquire 6 plates of food, with 7-8 children sharing each plate. Even drinking water was not provided, Wanniang said, “We were told not to carry anything inside the venue but when we went in, nothing was even given. Everything went haywire and was disorganised.” Even on Tuesday morning, which is Day 2 of the games, breakfast was served with only plain bread with no spread of butter or jam and there was no transportation being provided for the athletes to leave from their living quarters to the stadium for practice or even to procure food because food is not provided at the centres as it happened to the youths staying at Bosco Mount. The distance between the venue and the living quarters is approximately 2 km away, said Wanniang.
