| Video Discription | No lol sebaceous cyst are huge infected lesions. Some of them are just small ones that get in the way of people who work. This gentleman came in today to have it removed because he couldn’t work with it. It’s been there for many years and subsequently started draining and causing him pain. He was treated with antibiotics, but it did not go away. He now comes in to have it removed. You can see that it has a cyst wall that was excised. The wound was not that deep. The redness was really just associated with the sebaceous cyst. He will remove the packing in 48 hours and then cover it with a gauze every day when he gets out of the shower. And this is all he needs to do to have it heal. Sidenote, there are very few ones that you can’t wash with soap and water. If you wash a wound with soap and water, most of them will heal about 90% of the time. Most of the problems that we see in our office with chronic wounds are ones that people tell the patients they can’t get wet. You can get almost any wound wet. Washing it in the shower, decreases the bacteria load, which makes it heal faster. Any antibacterial soap and water will do just fine. |
