| Video Discription | Vidyaranya Swami is considered as the greatest Acharya of Advaitha Vedanta in the post Shankara period. He was the Jagadguru of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham. He helped establish the Vijayanagar Empire sometime in 1336, and served as a mentor and guide to three generations of kings who ruled over it. He has written commentaries on all the vedas and on all systems of philosophy in ancient India. Anubuthi Prakasa is his composition on all the major Upanishads where he has focused on the vedantic aspects. In these series of talks by Sri Raja Reddy we will study the Kathopanishad from Vidyaranya Swami’s Anubuthi Prakasha. Each verse in Anubuthi and the corresponding mantra in the Upanishad will be briefly explained. This will serve as a useful revision of Kathopanishad from the perspective of the great Vidyaranya Swami. In the first session we covered 6 verses from Anubuthi Prakasha which is the entire first valli of the first chapter of Kathopanishad In this session (2) the first seven mantras of Kathopanishad and upto the 16th verse of Anubuthi Prakasha will be explained. This deals with the greatness of Brahma Vidya , how obstacles may come in the way of our studies and the importance of chanting the Shantipatha. |
