| Video Discription | This short video demonstrates the resection of a vertical vaginal septum, a Müllerian duct anomaly. The procedure can be performed with or without vaginoscopy, using an energy device. In this case, we chose the latter, utilizing the Ligasure device, which is commonly used by our colleagues in thyroidectomy. Surgical correction is only indicated if the patient is symptomatic, as in this case, where the patient experienced dyspareunia and difficulty inserting tampons. Given her history of dyspareunia, we also performed a laparoscopy, confirming and excising endometriosis during the same procedure. It’s essential to rule out endometriosis when managing Müllerian anomalies. Additionally, a pelvic MRI is valuable in identifying renal tract anomalies or other associated Müllerian defects, which can sometimes coexist.
