| Video Discription | Dr. Snodgrass and Dr. Bush of the Hypospadias Specialty Center continue their Hypospadias Masterclass series. This time, in lesson 3, they discuss the technical steps that are key to performing a distal TIP hypospadias repair the correct way. They review how to make the glans wings incisions, how to dissect the glans wings, how deeply to cut the urethral plate, how far to tubularize the neourethra, and how to perform glansplasty to achieve a normal glans closure around the neomeatus. In addition, they review questions they hear from around the world about TIP repair. Does the urethral plate need to be 8mm or wider? What about a "narrow" urethral plate? Doesn't a deep incision potentially cause a stricture? What about functional urethral obstruction? How does TIP compare to a Denis Browne repair? Is TIP like an optical internal urethrotomy? What about Mathieu and other flap-based hypospadias repairs? Who should NOT have a TIP repair? TIP is the only hypospadias repair Snodgrass & Bush use for distal hypospadias - and has been since Dr. Snodgrass performed the first repair in 1989.
