Today we’re going to talk about what could be behind an enlarged prostate that can potentially affect urination. When a man ages, the prostate enlarges. The prostate is a gland that wraps around a little tube that’s coming from your bladder. If the prostate enlarges, it can shut down the tube and affect the ability to urinate. A person’s hormones can be classified into two categories: Anabolic — has everything to do with building something up Catabolic — has everything to do with breaking something down When you eat food, there is a catabolic effect. Enzymes break down food into basic building blocks like amino acids and fatty acids. Then, anabolic hormones kick in and make body tissue out of the building blocks. When the prostate enlarges, there is something anabolic going on.
