Additional footage of Bilqis’ rescue sheds further light on the reality of the wildlife trade and the unnatural conditions these innocent animals sadly find themselves in. Although it is a hard watch, please don’t look away! After YEARS as a pet, Bilqis the langur monkey was rescued by the Natural Resources Conservation Office (BKSDA), with support from our partners, IAR Indonesia. The langur’s owner was informed that keeping Bilqis as a pet was illegal, and that he must surrender the monkey to the Indonesian authorities. Working with the BKSDA, IAR Indonesia transported Bilqis to the primate rehabilitation centre in Bogor where she is undergoing treatment. Fortunately, despite the traumatic circumstances of being kept as a pet, she will be returned to her natural rainforest home as soon as possible. Thousands of animals around the world are currently at risk of suffering the same fate Bilqis would have endured, if not for the rescue.
