This was after three labourers working at a construction site at Umsohkhlur locality in Mawroh were attacked at around 11:30 am. All three were then rushed to NEIGHRIMS where 52-year-old Arjun Ray succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was a resident of Nongmynsong locality. "He left home at around 8:30 am. At around 12 pm we received a call that he had been taken to NEIGHRIMS and that he was assaulted. We got here at around 12:30 pm, by then he was already dead," Ray's son-in-law said while speaking to EastMojo. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Rituraj Ravi informed that the labourers were working at an under-construction house and Ray was severely injured. A case has been registered and an investigation into the matter is currently underway. Pynthorumkhrah MLA AL Hek strongly condemned the incident and asked the government and the police to take strict actions against those involved. "This kind of inhumane act cannot be tolerated and anybody involved in such activities should be punished.
