The government has announced a six-month moratorium on rental evictions for commercial and residential tenants, which protects both businesses and families who are facing dire financial times amid the ongoing health crisis. Ms Elsworth said many people hold the view landlords are very wealthy but in reality many are self-funded retirees who “haven’t had the luxury of having super their whole life”. She told Sky News host Peta Credlin many landlords have a mortgage on their property and they “may be negatively geared, which is bringing in income”.
