| Video Discription | In this clinical video. Dr. Bato discusses Sebaceous Cyst and its surgical procedure. What is Sebaceous Cyst? Sebaceous cysts are closed sacs filled with foul-smelling, cheese-like material found underneath the skin. They form when a gland or hair follicle becomes blocked and are commonly found on the scalp, face, neck, or torso. Sebaceous cysts are non-cancerous and usually present as painless lumps, but can become tender when infected. The cyst should be excised completely in order to avoid recurrence. If the cyst ruptures during the procedure there is an increased infection risk and recurrence rates are higher. Sebaceous cysts are generally not cancerous.
