While the Jupiter-8 is known as the fattest of all polyphonic analog synthesizers, these two digital incarnations aim to model and recreate the classic tones from this renowned instrument; and they do a great job at it-- albeit, in different ways. The System-8 is a more precise recreation of the classic Jupiter-8 tones, with ACB technology modeling even the most specific quirks of the original. The Jupiter-X, however, more accurately emulates the aesthetic of the JP-8 while using ACM technology that eschews the quirks to paint a bigger general picture of the magic of the original (not to mention, it has Roland drum sounds like the 808 and 909 built in). These are both fantastic instruments for the synth fan, but the question is: which is right for you?
