On Monday morning, Donald Trump gave a 7-minute rant about how angry he is about his criminal trial before he entered the courtroom. But as soon as he finished speaking, reporters began badgering him about whether or not he's going to testify on his own behalf. One reporter went as far as to ask him if he was scared to do so, but Trump didn't respond to the question. With closing arguments coming next week, Trump only has a few days left to make up his mind, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

On Monday morning as Donald Trump was heading into the courtroom for the day, he took time to speak to reporters where he went on a seven minute rant about everything from how much he thought the judge was corrupt to how cold that courtroom is. But reporters didn't care, right? They have heard all this crap from Donald Trump before. They wanted to get to the real issue at hand. And the issue, of course, based on reports from over the weekend, and they wanted to ask him about it on Monday, was that Donald Trump was still planning on taking the stand and testifying in his own defense at the trial. So the reporters repeatedly after Donald Trump quit ranting. Were asking him, are you going to testify with one reporter going as far as to say, are you afraid to testify? Here is how that exchange took place. Reporter number one says, Mr. Trump, are you to testify?
Reporter number two says, Mr. Trump, are you surprised your lawyers advised you not to testify? Now that one Trump responded to, he said, thank you very much. I'm here instead of campaigning. As you know, I was supposed to be at a very different state this morning, and the judge actually decided to call this early, and yet it looks like we're going to have a very big gap between days, and it's going to be determined right now in court. But we're here about an hour early today, I was supposed to be making a speech for political purposes. I'm not allowed to have anything to do with politics because I'm sitting in a very freezing cold courtroom for the last four weeks. It's very unfair. He's totally conflicted. This is the most conflicted judge probably in the history of the court system, and everyone knows what I'm talking about.
Thank you very much. So then the first reporter asks Again, will you testify? And then the second reporter says, will you follow your lawyer's advising you not to testify? The first one jumps back in and says, Mr. Trump, do you wanna testify? And the second one then goes, are you afraid to testify, sir? So again, just to recap, these two reporters start off both asking him like, Hey, man, you gonna testify? You gonna testify? Are you gonna testify? Will, it's very cool in the court room, and the judge is super conflicted, so thank you. Cool. You didn't answer our question. Are you gonna testify? Are you afraid to testify? Or are you actually gonna take your lawyer's advice and not sabotage your own trial by getting up there on the stand and making a fool of yourself? Which for the record, pretty much every single outside legal expert, including those on the right, have said that if Donald Trump testifies, it will be a disaster for him. But no answer. We have to wait and see how the rest of this week goes. Honestly, up to the point where Donald Trump sits in the witness box, I don't think we can say one way or another, he will or will not definitively testify until he is actually testifying. That is when we will get our answer.
And I think for the record that Donald Trump is trying to keep it a mystery, right? Never show your hand. Don't let him know where you're gonna go with it. But whether he says he is or says he isn't, until he's in that jury box or until we finish closing statements next Tuesday, I'm not gonna believe it until I see it happen. |
