This is a great place to while away the hours and watch all the comings and goings...luxury yachts, fishing trawlers, tall ships, RNLI Lifeboats and even cross harbour rowing ferries. Weymouth has long been one of the most popular seaside resorts in Britain. Holidaymakers have been flocking to this corner of Dorset since King George III was a regular visitor more than 200 years ago The fine Georgian Esplanade makes an impressive backdrop to the long arc of sand that is Weymouth Beach. The seafront houses a wide variety of hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes, and small specialist shops. Weymouth is a great destination for a family day out, and there are always plenty of things to do, even on a rainy day. Weymouth is also one of the most popular sailing destinations on the south coast. Nearby Portland Harbour is home to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, which was host to the sailing events of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Nothe Fort is proud to be Weymouth’s number one museum and heritage attraction. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to visit on this occasion. There is so much to do at the Fort!
