Zero Trim 3. Sensor Trim 1 . Working Principle of Rosemount Pressure Transmitter? -All smart Rosemount pressure transmitter have four major components. a) Pressure Sensor : consists of a pressure-sensitive element that can determine the pressure being applied. Pressure-sensitive elements can be a strain gauge, Capacitance, or Potentiometric. A change in pressure is measured by a change in the sensor output, which is also known as sensor signal. This sensor signal is in analog output form, which goes to, Analog to Digital Converter block of electronics module. This analog to digital converter module converts sensor signal to digital format. And this digital signal goes to microprocessor, which is the HART of pressure transmitter. Corrections are performed in the microprocessor to obtain a digital representation of the process input. This digital signal goes to Digital to Analog converter block of electronics module. And this digital to analog converter converts digital signal input into analog signal. This Analog Value is output of Pressure Transmitter. And It goes to PLC or DCS. 2.Zero Trim and Sensor Trim The procedure of calibrating the Analog to digital converter is called a sensor trim. what is a output trim? The procedure of calibrating the Digital to analog converter is called a output trim. Sensor trim may be trimmed in two ways. First type is zero trim, and second type is sensor trim. Now, what is a zero trim? 1.Zero trim is a simpler, and one point adjustment. 2.It may be performed when an exact pressure source is not available. 3.It is useful for compensating for mounting position effects or for zero shifts due to static pressure in differential pressure applications. 4.Zero trim is best performed with transmitter installed in its final mounting position. Now, what is sensor trim? A sensor trim is a two-point sensor calibration 1.Where two end-point pressures are applied, and all output is linearized between them. 2. To conduct a Sensor Trim, You need to attach a known pressure source to the input port of the transmitter, and compare the specific pressure to the microprocessor recorded pressure value. 3.Once the voltage is trimmed, you will attach a specific milli-ampere meter in series with the output current of the transmitter to equate the microprocessor’s expected current signal with the real current. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - If you have missed videos about flow measurement, pressure measurement, level measurement, then watch them here: 1.
