Okay, even though I absolutely adore the circe book, I feel like Miller didn't portray Hermes all that well? She defiantly made him way too careless and horny. Even though he is pretty laidback and has a LOONGGG list of lovers, he defiantly isn't as bad as he is in circe. Anyways, sorry for bothering you, I just wanted to talk about this 'cause I really thought they were going to be friends in the book or at least close- LIKE CHAPTER 8 TUGGED AT MY HEART-STRINGS MAN-
I actually think Miller portrayed him perfectly for the story she was trying to tell. Hermes is careless and horny, but like, so are all the other gods that appear in the book?? That's just the world building of the story, the gods here will be portrayed as acting generally shitty. This serves to make Circe feel more out of place, which is a pretty big theme in the book.
I like how concise Hermes' role to the story was, and I feel like giving him a less immature or careless interpretation would be confusing. And omg I'm so glad him and Circe didn't have a serious thing in the book, she definitely deserves better

I was wondering if you had any tips for character designs (specifically greek gods).
I know that's a really broad question, but I've found myself hitting a sort of wall with my designs, and I'm not sure where to start really.
Your designs are really beautiful and seemingly well thought out, so, i figured it wouldn't hurt to ask :3
well for gods specifically I think my main tip is to think outside the box!
the gods are really fun to design because you can kinda just go crazy with it? Like you don't have a lot of the limitations that human characters have, and you can exaggerate with stuff like clothing and proportions.
for example, Aphrodite represents femininity, so I gave her a long, perfect Rapunzel hair that reaches her feet. Ares represents war, so I just made his helmet completely shadow over his face. Hera's animal is a peacock, so her face is shaped like one. Stuff like that.
