Lumber Capital Log Yard

LCLY is a small family lumber mill located in North Central PA. We specialize in rough cut lumber for projects ranging from white oak trailer decking, to hemlock barn siding, to artistic walnut slabs. We are continually fascinated by the amazing creations our customers make. We wish to use this platform as a place to share the craftsmanship, knowledge and creativity of local woodworkers. Our YouTube followers have expressed an interest in the finished products and we plan to bring them to you here. In addition, we intend to provide a place to explore the historical details of the timber industry. &nbsp;We already have interviews planned with a local museum as well as with several places that feature timber industry history in one way or another. We’re talking initial phases here…so be patient with us…we are launching this at a busy time of year!&nbsp; Here is our spiel about this fantastic community: Once known as the lumber capital of the world, Williamsport’s past is rich with history about the lumber industry. We believe some old logging practices caused environmental damage; however, history is history. As modern loggers, we keep environmental factors at the forefront every day, always striving to facilitate a healthy hardwood forest for future generations. There is significant interest in the process of harvesting and milling our land’s valuable timber. Wood products cover a vast audience from the hikers’ campfire, to the artists’ turned burls, to the carpenters’ cabinets, and to the builders’ family homes. Our small business is just one of the areas timber harvest operations. Even so, we have had visitors from all over the country and are awaiting a visit by a gentleman all the way from Iceland! As owners of Lumber Capital Log Yard, located at the former property of the Summit Lodge motel &amp; restaurant, we wish to finally pursue our vision of providing a destination featuring Williamsport history. Although we have worked tirelessly over the years to maintain the remnants of the old restaurant &amp; motel structures, we have an extensive amount of renovating left to make them visit worthy! Our excitement to feature historical objects and to display information about our area’s history propels us onward.Offering a place to showcase locally made artistic wood products will be a natural addition &amp; will bring the past &amp; present together. Tourism is a vital aspect of our community. Local business owners and developers have improved our downtown greatly in recent years and have promised more to come. The Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat, Peter Herdic Transportation Museum, Thomas T. Taber Museum &amp; the Rowley House Museum are valuable sources of the lumber industry’s history here in the Williamsport area.We wish to become a valued member of this list.
