Intrepid Exotics

My name is Tim, creator of Intrepid Exotics. Over the years I have had the unique experience of working with massive constricting snakes over 20 ft and 200 lbs, large monitor lizards, and all manner of aquatics. As the interest grows in the keeping of reptiles, the need for competent public education is growing as well. There are some species of reptile such as crested geckos that are from such small areas that they were thought extinct until their popularity with breeders in the pet trade grew. This is one example of how captive breeding and keeping of exotic animals can literally secure their place in the world and save them from extinction. This is not hyperbole, over 98% of every animal that has ever lived on this planet has gone extinct and humans are decimating populations more every day. This means we must make massive efforts towards conservation; Public education, proper husbandry and care for captive animals, responsible keeping of larger reptiles with more advanced requirements, preventing invasive species harmful to foreign ecosystems, and safe handling techniques are all issues that we focus on.   As an Army combat veteran and former martial artist I have spent years teaching a myriad of topics; some very technical and some being very conceptual. These skills developed over a lifetime of helping others grow in their skills, ability and character are all brought to bear as we work with and teach others about these amazing creatures and do our part to make this world a better, more accepting place for some of the most misunderstood animals that we share our world with.  I began Intrepid Exotics as a means of sharing my experience and have received some of the most humbling, appreciative feedback from the community. As more people contact me telling me how my videos have taught them the skills needed to have great relationships with some of the most advanced reptiles to keep, I have decided to step-up and expand our reach and capabilities; this is the goal that Patreon is going to help achieve: The end goal is to purchase property that will be upfitted to accommodate a large collection of reptiles, aquatics, and a limited number exotic mammals that are brought in for rehabilitation and educational purposes. We will live on-site and the facility will be open to the public much like a zoo, however we will offer hands-on training with many of the animals to ensure that keepers are well equipped to properly care for them. We will also have the doors open to police, first responders, animal control and the Dept. of Natural Resources for training and practice working with animals they may encounter in the course of their duties.  We will focus primarily on &quot;rescues&quot; or taking in animals that have been mistreated, poorly kept or unhealthy so they can be rehabilitated and either kept as educational animals or adopted out to good homes.  This facility will provide local employment opportunities and support local businesses who provide everything from feeders, enclosure, heating-cooling apparatus, plumbing and general pet supplies. In time there will be some selective breeding programs established that will provide additional income for the facility and we intend to build close relationships with local animal control, zoological facilities, public schools and share our resources with universities to support their programs as well.
