#CompromisoSocial

American Express reposted this
It was a pleasure to sit down with David Novak on the How Leaders Lead podcast to reflect on my 40-year career at American Express and leadership style. I hope our conversation helps others develop their own leadership skills, as I think we all have to be agile learners, who are willing to continuously learn. In fact, no one should ever stop their journey of learning. You should always ask for, listen to and evaluate feedback. You should also pay it forward - making sure you're providing feedback to your direct reports and others so that they can grow and develop as the next generation of leaders.
In a new role? Ask your team these four POWERFUL questions, courtesy of American Express CEO Steve Squeri: 📈What should we do more of as a company? 🛑What should we stop doing? 🤞What do you hope I will do? 😨What are you absolutely afraid I'm going to do? This whole conversation with Steve is full of great insights like these! Listen now: https://lnkd.in/g-SCPsJx

It’s #TeamAmex Tuesday! This month, Gem is sharing her experience with our newly launched Neurodiversity Benefit in the UK: My name is Gem and I’ve been on #TeamAmex for more than 25 years. Since day one, I've always felt supported and encouraged to be my authentic self at American Express. Recently, I started noticing that the way I process information, learn, and communicate felt different than others, which led me to wonder if I was neurodivergent. I then discovered the Amex Neurodiversity benefit, which has since been life changing. In the UK, getting a diagnosis can take several months, and follow-up care can be costly. But with our new Neurodiversity benefit, everything was expedited, and I saved over £1,500. I worked with their team of virtual practitioners to get an assessment, details on my diagnosis, and follow-up care with group support sessions. This has not only transformed my personal and family life, but it has enabled me to adapt my work style and communications, ensuring my leaders and I get the best out of each other. I’m so grateful for the support Amex has offered me over the years – with every new chapter in my life, I feel backed with amazing benefits. Find your place on #TeamAmex: https://lnkd.in/eui79yGZ

Last week, The American Express Leadership Academy hosted 73 non-profit leaders in Sydney, in partnership with Common Purpose. Participants from across the APAC region heard from inspiring leaders, including former Australian Rugby Union Captain, John Eales. “Love what you do, not what you did,” John shared. “People fear change, but you have to dig a bit deeper to understand why they fear change. I think a lot of the time when they fear change, they fear loss more than the change itself.” If you’re a non-profit leader based in the Americas eager to bring fresh, courageous thinking inside and outside your organization, we are still accepting applications for our New York program in November. Our Chief Colleague Experience Officer, Monique Herena, spoke with Forbes about some of the ways we back new colleagues joining #TeamAmex, including our enterprise career growth model that “is meant for all colleagues, no matter their career stage or area of the business,” and our NextGen Colleague Network, which is focused on strengthening connections and fostering collaboration across generations.
