Homo habilis. Based on KNM-ER 1813, a relatively complete cranium from Kenia dated 1.9 million years. His controversial taxonomic position would still place him at the beginning of the human evolution lineage that led to us. Despite his modest cranial capacity (500/600 cc) he was one of the first hominids to handle stone tools, therefore his name.
I decided to represent him without much hair, as I think is easy to hypothesize the upright position required this adaptation pretty early, in order to improve the body thermoregulation.

His evolution story had place in Europe, while modern humans originated in Africa. They met again in the Middle East and lived alongside for several millenia until Neanderthal extinction, about 40.000 years ago.
