What Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Virat Kohli, Faf du plessis couldn't do Smriti Mandhana did it. Sophie Molineux turned the game when from 61/0 in 6 overs Delhi went to 87/7 in 14 overs. Historic collapse. 3 big wickets in an over by Sophie. Once Meg was LBW it meant a less than required total and Sophie Devine, Smriti & Perry chased it easily. I was hoping for Meg Lanning to win the Orange cap, Jess Jonassen to win the Purple cap and Delhi capitals to win the Title. none of it happened. talk about predictions. The fans were 80 - 20 in RCB's favour. It's an accumulated fans of Karnataka a big state of 8 Crore. No other southern state in WPL so, 4 more states add up, plus fan following of Virat Kohli, add few fans of Perry and Smriti and you have millions supporting RCB. One thing that most franchise could learn from RCB is a cool colour combination jersey, a phonetically aligned chant ...Arrrrr ...ceeeee....beeeee and a theme song that makes even a non supporter to chant RCB. The red and black jersey combination shoots up the merchandise sale. The stand were shaking when thousands were jumping in 1st innings on fall of Delhi capitals wickets. Serious thought - There are 3 floors in East stand - ground floor, 1st floor and second floor - today many of 1st and 2nd floor spectators came down and stood in the stairs area or any vacant space they could find to have a better view. You kinda miss all that. All your Aussie co- players are still playing and they have left for quick get aways to Goa (Ash Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield and Laura ) Beth Mooney to Maldives. Grace Harris to Australia, Allysa Healy probably joined Starc who is also in India for IPL. After a quick break they will all end up in Bangladesh to play together as a team. The one's in RCB won so they are also happy (Perry, Molineux & Wareham) but what about Meg. She's in team with only Jess, whose also retired almost. She used to lead all these girls and win titles and would have been in Bangladesh again with her team and talked about the fun times of WPL. But now all the girls will move on to Bangladesh to play, talk all the fun times but Meg won't be there. She will be back home. alone. She gave 13 years to Cricket Australia and now it's over. She's retired from international cricket. That realisation - that you will never again play together with your Aussie teammates. That Perry who won the orange cap used to be in Meg's team. She was the one who Meg used to captain, but now she's in RCB and it's not the same and the worst part. It will never be the same again. All those emotions may have caused those blue eyes getting moist. That's life my friend. It won't last forever, It won't stay the same forever. When the WPL opened the superstar Shahrukh Khan made all the captains of WPL team do the SRK pose. The pose is from movie Kal Ho Naa Ho. rightly translated as "There may be no tomorrow".
