Rakesh stared his career in 1979 with the movie Humarei Tumharei starring Sanjeev Kumar. He also speaks about working with Raj Kapoor in Ram Teri Ganga Maili, and how he has kept acting notes from Kapoor had advised him on all those years ago. The actor was in town for his latest play, Jab We Separated by Felicity Theatre, which he has written and directed.
