When Tamara Alison's (pictured left and centre right) dog Safari died three years ago aged 14 she struggled to come to terms with the loss. But recently the Canadian sociology student, 23, decided she was ready to have another dog and mentioned it to her boyfriend of two years Joah Wood (pictured right). Mr Wood, 22, told her it would be too expensive to get a blue heeler cross border collie puppy - Miss Alison's dream pet. But little did she know the kind-hearted sales manager was scheming with her mother Sandra Alison (pictured top left), 58, to make her dreams come true. The duo picked out a female puppy called Macky (pictured inset and bottom left) after seeing an advert online and planned to surprise Miss Alison with it on her 23rd birthday.
