| Video Discription | "Cruel to Be Kind" is a 1979 single by Nick Lowe, co-written by Lowe and his former Brinsley Schwarz band-mate Ian Gomm, that peaked at #12 on the US charts that summer. This is my extended version, inspired by The Romantics - Talking In Your Sleep Extended Version. Lowe's only single to hit the top 40 to date, it remains Lowe's most well-known work. It was released on the Radar Records label in the UK and Columbia Records in the USA. It was originally featured on the album Labour of Lust. The video to the song was one of the first music videos aired on MTV. I always loved this song - 50's Rockabilly meets Motown meets Disco. A real mishmash of styles, and enjoyable every moment! The lyrics are yet more proof that Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus! |
