The pancreas is one of the largest endocrine glands in the stomach parts. As an endocrine function, it has both exocrine and endocrine properties. The amount of exocrine is related to the pancreatic juice secreted into the intestine. Pancreatic juices secreted into the intestine, pancreatic duct and tubules throughout the pancreas are an anatomical structure that is evacuated to the intestine. These canals may eventually or later expand and become water-filled vesicles. This is called "cyst" in medicine. It is possible to detect these cysts with pancreatic ultrasound and pancreatic MRI. However, pancreatic cysts have a 10% chance of turning into cancer. To understand whether pancreatic cysts have turned into cancer, the C19.9 value in the blood and, if necessary, C19.9 cells in the cyst fluid are checked. In MRI images, lesions such as the formation of the main canal of the cyst, being multifocal, having both solid and liquid components, budding within the cyst, that is, papillamatous appearance, and thickening of the cyst wall occur. Additionally, cyst aspiration fluid having the consistency of snot is also listed as a sign of cancer. In this case, pancreatic cancer can be diagnosed and radical surgery can be performed. Follow-up of cysts in these conditions is recommended, and it is monitored whether pancreatic cysts turn into cancer during a follow-up period of three to six months. To be appreciated, for many people, waiting for cancer in a tissue suitable for an aggressive type of cancer, such as the pancreas, is psychologically traumatic and very tiring. Unfortunately, until recently, both doctors and doctors continued to accept the follow-up of pancreatic cyst structures, taking the risk of people getting cancer, because pancreatic surgeries were very large and complicated surgeries. In case of pancreatic cancer, even if it was 10%, a dramatic process would inevitably begin. Today, in centers such as Oncolive Clinic and in the hands of professional surgeons, pancreatic surgeries, especially cystic ones, such as IPMN, can be performed in less than an hour with minimally invasive techniques and mini incisions, and for patients like this patient who cannot psychologically overcome the fear of cancer, an hour-long surgery and 48-day hospitalization are required.
