We begin where the famous Ponte Dom Luís I bridge meets the waterfront area of Cais Da Ribiera. This iron bridge was built by a student of Gustave Eiffel (the very same man that designed the Eiffel Tower,) and it connects the Ribeira district with Vila Nova de Gaia across the Rio Douro. The riverfront area of Ribeira has to be the most picturesque in Porto and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's top of the list of visitor's things to do in Porto for very good reasons, with it's line of cafes, bars, live street music and brightly coloured houses.
