| Video Discription | Bohemian Pilsner Recipe Batch Size: 23 L / 6.07 US liquid gallons OG: 1.050 FG: 1.012 Boil Time: 90 mins IBU: 38.8 Efficiency: 75% Mash steps:- Mash in @ 62 deg c/ 144 deg f for 20 minutes then raise to 68 deg c / 154 deg f for a further 30minutes Mash out @ 75 deg c/ 167 deg f for 10 minutes FERMENTABLES 4.62kg/ 10.18lbs Pilsner (2 Row) German (93%) 0.33kg/ 0.72lbs Carapils(3.9 EBC Crystal malt) (7%) HOP ADDITIONS 49g / 1.72oz Saaz (AA 3.5%) Boil 75 min 18.1 IBU 45g / 1.58oz Saaz (AA 3.5%) Boil 60 min 15.9 IBU 37g / 1.30oz Saaz (AA 3.5%) Boil 10 min 4.8 IBU 30g / 1.05oz Saaz (AA 3.5%) Boil 0 min 0.0 IBU YEAST 1.0 packet Mangrove Jack's Bavarian Lager M76 EXTRAS Use Irish moss and yeast nutrients in the boil, following the directions on the product. FERMENTATION & LAGERING NOTES Fermentation at 10 deg c until it is at least 50% attenuated, (4-8 days approx) Add 1 deg c per day until 18 deg c , when FG is stable for 3 days cool down to 4-5 deg c. Some brewers prefer to do this cooling down process in stages but personally, I have noticed no difference in the results and have spoken to few that have either. Hold at this temperature until the beer is clear, usually 1-3 days depending on how clear you want it Add gelatine to speed this up or instead of cold crashing altogether. For the best results, the beer should be at least 10 deg c (10 is optimal) when the gelatine is added. If you are bottling then do so now. You can now move to the lagering process. Use a temperature of between 5 deg c to 1 deg c. Test the beer each week to see what suits your taste.
