| Video Discription | This is a dish that can be enjoyed guilt-free since it is oven baked and does not involve deep frying the masala-coated peanuts. Ingredients: Peanuts: 1 cup Channa Dal Flour (Kadalai Maavu): ¾ cup Rice Flour: 1 tbsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder: 1 tsp Regular Red chilli powder: ½ tsp Asafoetida: ½ tsp Salt to taste Oil: 2 tbsp (1 + 1) Water: 2-3 tbsp Method: Step 1: Mixing all ingredients and creating peanut mixture to bake Preheat the oven to 375° F. While that is heating, begin preparing the peanut mixture to bake. Also keep a baking tray lined with aluminum foil ready for baking. First add 1 tbsp of oil to the peanuts. Mix well so the peanuts are well coated in the oil. Let it stay that way for 5 min. In the meanwhile, mix all the other ingredients. In a mixing bowl, add all ingredients (channa dal flour, rice flour, red chilli powders, asafoetida and salt). Now add in the peanuts. Mix well. Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil. Now sprinkle water a little at time, mixing well each time so that the mixture is wet enough for the spices to coat the peanuts without the peanuts becoming clumpy. Step 2: Bake the peanut mixture Transfer the peanut mixture to the baking tray taking care to see that the peanuts form a single layer so they are not one on top of another. We needed a total of 18 min for baking. Noting that different ovens need different levels of heating, you may need to experiment a little to figure out the right time for your oven. Our suggestion is to bake this for 10 min. Then stir in the middle and bake for another 8 min or so. To check if it is done, you will need to take it out and let it cool for 5-8 min before seeing if more baking is needed. This is because if you try to taste it immediately after taking it out of the oven, they may still be a little raw. They cook as they start cooling down, so you will get a true test of their taste only after a few minutes. Our healthy baked masala peanuts are ready. Enjoy ! |
