| Video Discription | Paruppu Payasam is one of many varieties of payasam in South India especially Kerala. It is served during Kerala Sadhya. It is an healthy sweet as it is made with moong dal, jaggery and coconut milk. Easy to make but full of flavour and taste. Ingredients: Moong dal - 1 cup Jaggery - 1 cup Thin coconut milk - 3/4 cup Thick coconut milk - 1/4 cup Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp Ghee - 1/4 tsp + 2 tbsp Coconut pieces - 1/4 cup Cashew nuts - 1/4 cup Water - 2 + 1/2 + 1 cup Method : 1. In a pressure cooker, add 1/4 tsp ghee and roast moong dal till fragrant and the colour changes to golden brown. 2. Then add water and cook for 3 whistles on medium flame. 3. In a kadai, add jaggery and water. Melt it and then strain it and keep aside. 4. In the same kadai, add cooked moong dal, melted jaggery and water. Mix and cook for a minute. 5. Then add thin coconut milk and cook for 5 mins on low flame stirring continuously. Or else milk will curdle. 6. Add cardamom powder and mix it. 7. Lastly add thick coconut milk and switch off the flame. 8. In a pan, add ghee and fry coconut pieces till golden brown. Then keep aside. 9. In the same pan with ghee add cashew nut and fry till golden brown. 10.
