He was the youngest among the four sons and was the most powerful of them all. Parshu means axe, therefore his name means Rama with an axe. He had received the axe as a gift from Lord Shiva as a result of his meditation. He was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. Parshuram is believed to have been immortal. Born in the Bhrigu clan, Parshuram Avatar possessed the qualities of both brahmin and Kshatriyas. He was half Brahmin and half Kshatriya. Lord Vishnu had incarnated as Parashuram to end the evil deeds of Sahastrarjuna, a Kshatriya king who was blessed with invincibility.
