This surgery combines the key elements of STAC repair for straightening curvature ranging from 30-60 degrees, which occurs in approximately 15% of patients with a distal meatus. Instead of cutting through the urethral plate, it is preserved in the STAC-TIP. Once the penis has healed straight, then a routine TIP repair can be performed at a 2nd stage, 6 months later. This technique should not be used for patients with a midshaft or proximal meatus, in whom STAC repair with grafting remains the gold standard.
