We offer as a naivedhyam to Lord Ganesha. The original process is rice flour prepared with soaked, drained and dried rice and grind it into flour. Here I shared a recipe using store brought rice flour. Detailed recipe below... ** CONNECT WITH DEVI TASTY RECIPES ON SOCIAL MEDIA ** Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/devitastyrecipes/ Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/devitastyrecipes Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/devitastyrecipes/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/devitastyrecipe Tumblr - https://www.tumblr.com/blog/devitastyrecipes Ingredients: #Rice flour - 2 tbspns #Water - 3 3/4 cups #Ghee - 2 1/2 tbspn #Cashew nuts - 10 #Raisins - 10 #Dry coconut pieces - 10 #Jaggery - 2 3/4tbspns #Rice flour - 1/2 cup #Sugar - 1 tbspn Soaked #sabudana / #sago #Milk - 1/2 litre #Cardamom powder - 1/2 spn Procedure: 1) In a small mixing bowl take Rice flour-2 tbspns and add Water -1/2 cup. Make a lump free paste and keep aside. 2) In a medium hot pan take Ghee-1 tbspn and heat it and add Cashew nuts-10. Fry for 1 min on medium to low flame. Add Raisins-10, Dry coconut pieces-10 and fry till raisins pops up and keep aside. 3) Into the same pan add water-3/4th cup, boil water for 2 mins and add Jaggery-2 tbspns and melt the jaggery. Add Rice flour-1/2 cup and mix well and cook for 2 mins on medium flame and transfer to a plate. It will be very hot, be careful. Form a dough. 4) Take small dough and gently roll in palms to make 2.5 to 3 inches length. Thalikalu is ready. Do the same with rest of the dough. At last sprinkle some rice flour and roll gently. This will help not to stick. 5) In a pan add Jaggery- 3/4th cup and Water- 1/2 cup. Melt the jaggery on medium flame. Add Sugar-1 tbspn and mix well. Drain for any impurities and keep aside. 6) In a cooker add soaked sabudana/sago, Water-2 cups, Ghee-1/2 spn and cook for 2 whistles. They should be half cooked. Add Milk-1/2 litre and mix well. Boil for 5 mins. 7) Add prepared thalikalu to the boiling milk. Do not over mix. Cook for 5 mins on medium to low flame. Check till it cooked well. 8) Add Rice flour paste and cook for 2 mins till you get thick consistency. Add Cardamom powder-1/2 spn and roasted dry fruits. Mix well. Allow to cool down and add Jaggery syrup and give a mix. Add Ghee- 1 spn and serve in a bowl. Tips: - Jaggery syrup is prepared before the process begins. - When preparing palathalikalu dough, we are adding jaggery to the rice flour. That helps to get good taste to thalikalu while eating. If you don't want, you can skip it. - If you are running out of time on festival day, just cover the thalikalu while boiling in milk. But you must keep an eye on them, otherwise the milk will overflow on top counter. - If you don't have time on festival day, prepare thalikalu with murukku press with big holes in it. That means quick and even shaped thalikalu. If anyone is there in your house, give it to them. They will prepare by hands(If it is ok). - Please do not over mix when adding every item into the palathalikalu because thalikalu might break. - Please prepare jaggery syrup first and let it cool down before proceeding to the next step and the palathalikalu also should be cool. Then only the milk won't be curdle, otherwise it will curdle and the taste will change. In this recipe both should be cool to get perfect palathalikalu. - Adding ghee at the end will give nice aroma to the dish. Let Ganesha bless all of us with happiness and wealth.
