| Video Discription | Upon surrendering my South Downs studio of twelve years, I have recently lost a very special place of my own. Without such foundation, my creative spirit unravels, formless in the wider world. But in the presence of Pallant House Gallery Community Programme members, I have been able to build Alma, a suit of soft armour, an invocation to my roaming spirit. Championing my talents and heritage, I have bound to Alma the fierce red of ethereal poppy bloom, unearthed from rubble of Downland chalk. Now she is here, Alma stands as witness and protector, animated by the reality of my own eternal place. (Nicola Hancock) Each artist has created a work about a place that is significant to them.
