| Video Discription | French President Emmanuel Macron has declared a state of emergency in New Caledonia after multiple people were killed as violence engulfs the French territory. Riots broke out in the capital Noumea over a new bill that will let French residents who have lived in there for more than 10 years vote in provincial elections - a move some local leaders fear will dilute the indigenous Kanak vote. Multiple pro-independence leaders have been under house arrest and TikTok has been banned, as hundreds of security forces are sent from France to try and restore order.
