| Video Discription | Nine new positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on the Rock in the past twenty-four hours - this is the largest daily increase since April 13th, when Gibraltar saw a spike of 13 cases from one day to the next, although these were all visitors aboard ships. Four of the new cases are fully-vaccinated residents: one in their early seventies, two in their late sixties, and one in their early thirties. Two of the new resident cases were close contacts of an existing active case. The five other new cases are unvaccinated visitors aged between fifteen and twenty. There have also been two recoveries. There are currently 19 active cases on the Rock: 12 residents and seven visitors. Six cases have been identified as the Alpha or UK variant, with three Delta or Indian variant cases. The variants in the remaining 10 active cases are pending identification. There are no cases in the hospital or Elderly Residential Services. There are 47 people in self-isolation. |
