Kolkata Rally News LIVE Updates: The Kolkata Police have deployed extensive security measures for the "Nabanna Abhiyaan" protest march, due to concerns about violence. This march to Nabanna — the West Bengal state secretariat — has been organised by an unregistered group presenting itself as a student organisation to protest the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College on August 9. The Kolkata police which called the march “illegal” are using water cannons and tear gas shells on the protesters who are resorting to breaking barricades and throwing stones at the policemen deployed along the route. The BJP which is said to be backing the student body has claimed that police lathi charge has led to several protesters being injured.
